INTEROP - Seminar Series "Sustainability and Digitization: Fundamental Rights and Public Policies"

As part of the Jean Monnet project INTEROP - "Digital Single Market as a Political Calling: Interoperability as the Way Forward", a seminar cycle was held from March 22-23, 2018 at UMinho Casa do Conhecimanto, on the subject "Sustainability and Digitization: Fundamental Rights and Public Policies", carried out in partnership with researchers from UNISC - University of Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil.

The INTEROP project is developed by Alessandra Silveira, Pedro Froufe, Joana Abreu and Sophie Perez (researchers from CEDU - Centre of Studies in European Union Law) and aims, amongst other objectives, to discuss with European policy makers the path to be outlined for the Digital Single Market, its potentialities and weaknesses, and what to expect in terms of achievement and impact in the context of the Member States. More specifically, it intends to test the scope of interoperability in a wide range of domains and their operation.

From the standpoint of technological sustainability, the following subjects were discussed: "Sustainable public management and social participation", "Economic, social and environmental sustainability: from public policies to judicialization", as well as "Public and private relations in the digital age - political and legal dimensions".

During the seminar cycle - especially aimed at students of UMinho's European Union Law Masters Degree, which maintains a double degree protocol with UNISC - the "E-book Workshop CEDU/UNISC 2016 - Interjusfundamentalidade, internormatividade e interjurisdicionalidade" was presented.
