PARLAMENTELSIUM - European Parliament session simulation

ELSA-UMinho is promoting the first simulation of the European Parliament in EDUM, with the scientific support of CEDU, which is going to take place on February 26, 2016.

The "Parlamentelsium" aims for competitors to be able to capture the the European Parliament's role - which intervenes with the Council in discussing and settling the legislative proposal presented by the Commission - in the ordinary legislative procedure. In this context, it is necessary to take into account the existence of European political groups and wich are their understandings regarding the issue under review. To this end, the applications will be submitted for presentation of claims, assuming the expected position of the European political families to choose from, based on the following Commission legislative proposal:

- Proposal for a Directive on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by competent authorities for the prevention, investigation, detection and prosecution of criminal offenses or the execution of criminal penalties, and the free movement of such data.

The scientific coordination of this activity is the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Joana Covelo de Abreu, integrated member of CEDU.

The winning team will be awarded a paid trip to Brussels to visit the European Parliament.
