The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (CFREU) Commentary was published, coordinated by Professor Alessandra Silveira and Mariana Canotilho. This CEDU's project is pioneer in the Portuguese language editing market and it had the collaboration of 58 authors. To pursue this goal and following the most recommendable compared experience, the coordinators had decided to share the project with various commentators of recognized scientific knowledge (from different ages, sympathies/ inclinations and worldviews), so the result could reproduce the European project's diversity (intergenerational and intersubjective).
Therefore, taking into account the adopted solution, each author is fully responsible for the content of their commentary. The speech's connection is granted only by the CFREU's thematic organization and the editor's commentary harmonization. The chosen authors are cultures of EU law or specialists in material domains of the EU related to the commented article, they are also reputed experts in fundamental rights though less familiar with integration law. Within the interconstitutionality context as well as the one where the European Union's fundamental rights are incorporated, it is imperative to make space for all kinds of sensibilities.
The CFREU Commentary's publication is expected to convert itself in a support tool for the Portuguese legal operators (who are daily confronted with the application of European law and national law which executes EU law) and in an inspirational fountain for the broad universe of the Union constitutional law interpreters (in which we are all integrated). Being used to the wholeness of the fundamental rights provided by the Portuguese Constitution, the Portuguese legal operators haven't got used yet to the existence of a European Union's competence catalogue as well as a fundamental rights catalogue which rule its exercise even through the Member States performance. Either way, the matters which involve fundamental rights protected by the European Union must be comprehended and settled under the CFREU - which finally has a commented edition in Portuguese language.
