European Law Moot Court Competition - Braga Regional Final

On 16th, 17th and 18th February 2012, CEDU promoted a regional final of the European Union Law Moot Court Competition. It is an event which enhances the study of European Union Law; it counts with the support of the European institutions and it mobilizes hundreds of European and American Universities.

To each regional final, 12 teams were selected taking into account the resolution of an highest difficulty case law.  In 2012, the regional finals will take place in Luxembourg, Braga, Luzern and Istambul, and the great final will take place at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Accordingly to the ELMC Society, "the level of participation was very high this year, with most teams presenting high quality work. Proof of this is that the average score for the entire group of teams was 16,65.".

The first day of competition - 17th February - took place in the Law School of the University of Minho and the second day of competition - 18th February - took place in the facilities of Guimarães Court of Appeal. The jury was integrated by José Luís da Cruz Vilaça (President), Nuno Piçarra, Pedro Froufe, Miguel Martinez Gimeno, Rosa Greaves, James Flynn, Allan Tatham, Erik Pijnacker Hordijk and Robert Lane.

In Braga, the teams that faced eachother were the following: University of Leiden, Faculté de Droit et de Science Politique d'Aix-en-Provence, Utrecht, Nancy 2, The Law Society of Ireland, Luzern University, Osnabrück, Eotvos Lorand University, University of Amsterdam, University of Zagreb, King's College London and University of Maribor.

The team selected to be at the great final was the team from the King's College London.
