In order to highlight the 45th anniversary of the University of Minho, UMinho Editora's services are now launched through the website editora.uminho.pt.

UMinho Editora aims to edit works produced by members of the academic community and by external authors, making available to students and teachers of higher education, as well as to the general public, texts of high scientific and pedagogical quality and works of scientific, artistic and cultural dissemination. UMinho Editora is guided by the references of open science and also by the designs of environmental sustainability, betting preferentially on the digital edition and the option to print on recycled paper, when appropriate.

UMinho Editora offers book publishing, magazine publishing and editorial support services. Regarding the edition of books, UMinho Editora is open to proposals for the editing of UMinho authors, or external authors, as well as proposals for translation of foreign works. All proposals will be evaluated by experts from the respective area, who will be appointed by the Scientific and Editorial Board.

UMinho Editora provides a hosting service for scientific or cultural journals edited by UMinho's organic units, through a platform that allows the editorial management of scientific journals to be carried out in an agile and efficient manner, following the best international practices of academic publication and agreement with the principles of open science.

UMinho Editora also provides other editorial support services, such as the attribution of digital object identifiers (DOI), consulting and support for indexing, integration in aggregators and databases, technical support for magazine managers and training in editorial management.

The presentation of UMinho Editora on the anniversary of UMinho is also marked by the publication, in a joint edition with Lab2PT, of her first book - Open 'o Paço' to the City, by Maria Manuel Oliveira, on the project of Requalification of the former Paço Arquiepiscopal de Braga, which now houses the Rectory and other organs and services of UMinho - as well as the availability of the Perspectives - Journal of Political Science and UNIO - EU Law Journal magazines in UMinho Editora's magazine hosting service.

With the creation of UMinho Editora, which was formalized through Dispatch RT 93-2018, of December 14, 2018, and its public presentation on this day, the University fulfills an old design, and now has a new instrument to promote and disseminate the scientific and cultural production of the academic community and the image of the Institution, continuing and extending the consolidated experience of UMinho over the last fifteen years in terms of open access to scientific knowledge.
