Andreia Cunha de Oliveira, CEDU researcher, who holds a Master's Degree in European Union Law from the University of Minho, is doing an internship in the field of Data Protection at the European Agency for the operational management of large-scale information systems in the area of freedom, security and justice (eu-LISA), in Tallinn, Estonia.
Andreia works closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and helps him with many and varied activities. These include conducting studies in the area of data protection impact-assessment, notifications for prior checking and issuing of opinions on eu-LISA's core systems (Eurodac, SIS II and VIS). Providing awareness sessions on data protection and ensuring compliance with Regulation (EC) no 45/2001 of The European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, are also part of her duties. Andreia, with assistance from the DPO, also conducts research, in the light of European legislation, on Artificial Intelligence, namely its implications on data protection.
