The collective work "Enciclopédia da União Europeia" (from Petrony publisher) was launched today, resulting from an interdisciplinary partnership between the CEDU (Centre of Studies in European Union Law), CICP (Center for Research in Political Science of the Universities of Minho and Évora) and CEDIS (Center of R&D on Law and Society of the New University of Lisbon), being coordinated by Ana Paula Brandão, Isabel Camisão, Francisco Pereira Coutinho and Joana Covelo de Abreu.
 
It is symbolically published on the sixtieth anniversary of the signing of the Rome Treaties and aims to make accessible to a diverse audience concepts, theories, institutions, policies, events and personalities that are fundamental to understanding the nature and functioning of the European Union.

The book includes 161 entries written by 106 authors, chosen from experts in different branches of knowledge, including Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Law, History and Sociology.
 
The presentation of the book will take place on December 15, in the framework of the First Meeting of Law Professors of European Union Law. Professor Alessandra Silveira (University of Minho) and Professor Sofia Pais (Catholic University of Porto), both holders of Jean Monnet Chairs in EU Law, and scientific coordinators of the First Meeting of EU Law Professors, will be in charge of the presentation.
